Italy 2026, Day 12

Woke up this morning to no water in our lodging. We had mentioned to the owner that the sprinkler system seemed to be stuck on. I don’t know that they took us too seriously as they didn’t send anyone until today. After running constantly for two days the cistern had run dry.

After some fun WhatsApp conversations with the owner, we got to spend the day waiting for a water refill truck and the gardener. The refill truck actually arrived pretty quickly! By around 10:30am we had water in the lodging again. The gardener didn’t arrive till about 1PM and I’m not sure what he actually did but the sprinkler isn’t running anymore.

So, we took the opportunity to do mostly nothing today! We relaxed, had a light lunch at the lodging, watched some tv. We did head into Martina Franca for dinner and to explore the downtown a bit.

Martina Franca has a very Baroque architectural style for its old town. The have several very pretty piazza and a lot of restaurants.

Dinner was outside at one of the piazza.

Prosciutto and melon, very refreshing.

Bombette, basically pork rolled with cheese and grilled on a skewer.

Pretty lazy day over all, tomorrow should be a bit busier.
