Sadly, we departed from our lodging of the last seven days this morning. It has truly been the highlight of our time in Puglia!

We headed north back to Alberobello to pick up a few items we decided we wanted after thinking it over. As we had the time today, it was an easy stop.

For the rest of the day, we strolled around the capital of the region, Bari. Bari is the largest city of the region with a medieval core that is fun to walk around. It is also known for the women that hand make orecchietta in the alleyways. If you see them on videos or tv, they appear on a quiet alley quietly making their pasta as a way to survive. The reality is that they are in a very busy alley and several of the ladies have branded themselves on their packaging. The commercialism made me a lot more comfortable buying from them, they are definitely doing well!

We also hit up the castle in the city. It had AC in some rooms!

We did have one final meal in Italy.

And, of course, one last helping of gelato.

It has been a wonderful if very warm trip! It’s Italy so the food was great. I’m done with pasta for at least two weeks. Their red sauce here is so much better than in the States. Italians have no idea how to merge onto the highway. San Gimignano is still one of my most favorite places to visit!

I’m sure I’ll be back to Italy again at some point. I still have some areas in the north to see!
