This morning started early as I was woken up by a text at 5AM. After trying to sleep for a bit longer and then giving up, I decided to take some pre-sunrise photos.

After roaming around our lodging, I grabbed a book and sat in the courtyard near the breakfast room waiting for everyone else to wake up.
I did have one companion before everyone else.

The first stop today was the city of Spoleto. One of the myriad of hilltop towns in Italy, this one stands out as the easiest to ascend. Someone was kind enough to add a series of escalators and elevators to get to the top of the town. It is then, much easier, to descend into the town.
So, we started with the fort at the top and worked our way down the hill.

I also, just realized that I took no exterior shots of the fort. Oops! Enjoy the interior of Rocco Albornoz.

High today was 95-97 degrees. The sun feels like a physical blow when you walk into it from the shade.

We did also get a treat at another location.

After seeing the frog off, we headed to the city of Assisi. Famous as the home of Saint Francis of Assisi.

The sun really started to hit here. Assisi was much busier than Spoleto but most of the people were dining or just relaxing with a drink. We probably should have followed their example.

For dinner we hit up a spot that we had found online before coming to Italy. Food was good and so was the view.

We then tooled around Assisi after dark as we made our way back to the car.

So, the Summer weather has not quite left Italy and the feels like it is hammering down on you during the afternoon. It looks like we have one more day of these high temperatures but slightly better temperatures are on the horizon. Along with some thunder storms.
