Italy 2023 Day 7

Yet another religious day where I got to wander from church to church. I spent today in the pilgrimage town of Assisi. Literally a shining city on the hill as I’ve been able to see this city from miles away for the past several days. Of course, on the day that I go there the clouds decide to roll on in.

Got lucky with the parking and it was just a short walk from the lot up to the Basilica of Saint Francis. This is the main attraction where people come to view the resting place of the saint. Once again, no pictures allowed in the Basilica.

After the Basilica it was church after church, some a bit more simple than the others.

The steps down the very small oratory of the birthplace of Saint Francis.

After a very nice lunch I wandered around the town.

Pasta with porcini mushrooms and truffles.

I even got a local dessert.

Giant olives scattered throughout the town.

Some very messy cafe patrons.

Once I was finished with Assisi I headed to the town of Spello, A town that is one long hill, pretty though.

I think they’ve done some renovations.

On the way back to my lodging I got to see Assisi again from the highway and, of course, it was drenched in sunlight. I have fantastic luck.
