Barcelona 2025, Day 3

Yet another day of walking till I’m ready to collapse. Today was the day of three Gaudi houses.

The first house/apartment was La Pedrera – Casa Mila. I believe this building is still occupied by either businesses or people as you can really only see one floor and the roof.

Attic that helped support the building and provided an area for drying laundry.

A spot of late breakfast

The next building was Casa Batllo. If you only have time to see one Gaudi Casa, this is the one to see! This one had the most rooms to see of all three today but not much in the way of furniture. Obviously, my favorite one today. It has a very organic feel to all of the spaces influenced by the sea.

This alcove fireplace was my favorite feature in the whole building.

The texture on the ceiling repeats in multiple areas throughout the building.

Passive ventilation

Another attic space. As far up as I could go with my ticket.

Art installation on the stairs down made of hanging chains.

Part of the ticket gets you in to the Gaudi Cube which is a visual art installation using Gaudi imagery.

The final building was Casa Vincens. This was listed as Gaudi’s first big project and not the building from my first day. It’s very different from his later buildings but you can see the nature aspect coming in. It’s a bit sad as most of the interior was changed at one time so only some of the original building remains.

What the property used to look like.

What it looks like now.

Saw these at a bakery.

My feet are sore and my legs are on fire. I’ve walked all day so I’m going to rest up for tomorrow.
