Greece 2025, Day 13

We had only one thing planned for the day, the Acropolis. Only a 20-ish minute walk from the hotel we took our time as we had timed tickets. We hoped they would let us in early but that didn’t really pan out. The Acropolis was one of our ‘must see’ items for Greece, kind of like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and we had waited the whole trip for this.

The Acropolis is probably the most visited sight in Greece so we expected some crowding. I’ve seen videos of peak season, we were there on an empty day comparatively but it was still the busiest place we had been to.

I’m not going to try to explain all of the buildings. I don’t remember the details for most anyways.

Not the Acropolis but I thought it was funny to see anyways.

We did have a quick lunch and a leisurely dinner.

Chicken Gyro for lunch.
Chicken filet for dinner.

After almost two weeks of walking, we are ready for some rest. Greece has been a fantastic country to visit but I would never wish to come here during peak season. We could see all around how many people the country was prepared to take in and it is astounding! Also, after having visited both the mainland and Crete, I can say I prefer Crete. Maybe because everything was a bit closer, maybe everything felt a bit less crowded, or maybe it was Mina’s restaurant. I’m not sure what it was. We still had a great time on the mainland, I just enjoyed my time on Crete more.

If you ever come to Greece, remember one important thing; you need to buy cat food for all of the furry friends you are going to meet along the way.
