Greece 2025, Day 12

For our first full day in Athens we walked around 6 miles to see the Acropolis Museum and the Greek Agora.

The walk to the Acropolis Museum passes by several Ancient Greek and Roman sights.

Temple of Hephaestus.

The Acropolis Museum has a collection of finds from multiple excavations at the site as well as some of the original friezes from the Parthenon.

Oil lamp in shape of a ship. This was my favorite item!

We walked through a giant tourist trap called the Plaka on our way back to the hotel for lunch. Much of what we had read and heard before the trip had said that tourist items could be had here for less than outside of Athens. That was definitely not our experience. Thankfully, we had already picked up most everything that we had wanted.

After lunch we headed over to the Ancient Agora for another walk.

There was also a small museum of finds from the Agora.

Childs commode.

Spartan shield brought to Athens as spoils.

Mango gelato.

Temple of Hephaestus at night.

Sea bass.

Moussaka.
