Bit of a slow start today. We were to pick up our rental today but the wait was long and the first car we received had a malfunctioning GPS. This took a half hour to resolve, by switching cars, before we could even begin the journey to our first sight of the day.

Due to the length of our delay we did not reach the Chateau Haut-Koenigsbourg until afternoon. Once there we found the castle covered in a cake toper of snow. The whole region got a bit of snow overnight but the castle received almost two inches. This made the whole walk through there a bit more magical.

The castle was reconstructed in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s with an effort toward restoration. The restoration was modeled after the 1500’s version of the castle.

I would love to say that we had some great views out but were surrounded by clouds got the afternoon.

Due to the earlier delays, the castle is all that were able to get done.

We ate lunch at the castle restaurant which wasn’t bad for being the only option.

A short day but more to come tomorrow!
