Italy 2023 Day 12

I really wanted a win today with a guarantee of seeing something interesting. So, today was the city of Siena. Famous for a horse race that they run in the main piazza in front of the town hall. I’m not real sure how much of a race it can be given the space but they get very excited about it. Unfortunately, today was not a race day. I doubt I could have found parking if it was.

Siena is also famous for its incomplete cathedral. They had intended for it to be the largest in Italy but, I think, they ran out off funding. The existing structure is still impressive and always worth a visit. Said visit involved two very long waits in line to get the ticket and then to get in, it’s a popular spot.

After finishing at the cathedral I headed to an art exhibit that I had noticed on my walk up to wait in line. There was a Salvador Dali exhibit in town!

I don’t know why but I really like the weird elephant.

After the Dali exhibit it was back to walk through Siena and relax in the piazza.

Lemon gelato.

Today was a pretty good day where nothing went wrong for too long. I’ll finish off today’s post with a walkthrough of the former convent I’m staying at.
