Today’s post will be much shorter than previous days. Most of today was spent traveling from Waterford to Killarney with very little sight seeing.
The drive today was not a direct one. Before leaving for this trip, I made the mistake of asking someone if they would recommend anyplace to see or visit. They suggested the town of Kinsale. Now I would not necessarily have gone but I made the further mistake of looking at the town on Google Street View. After that I figured I had to go.
I also found that a section of the coast between Waterford and Cork was named the Copper Coast and seems to be trying to stir up some more tourism. I figured why not.
I can say that a drive along the coast from Waterford to Cork is completely worth the extra time! There are some TrueType fantastic views and several very cute towns and villages. I wish I had had the time to explore them.
I did stop at one site along the way called Tankardtown. This was an old copper mine from the eighteen hundreds. It is one of several sites that are stops along the Copper Coast.
There was not much left behind but some of the signage was both educational and disturbing (see below).

Some views along the coast.

From the Copper Coast it was a bit over an hour to get to Kinsale. I had lunch at a restaurant that I found online and decided I had to eat there! It’s called Fishy, Fishy.

The town itself is like many of the coastal tourist towns in Massachusetts, with many shops and restaurants to suit almost any taste. I would highly recommend at least stopping by if not making it your lodging for a trip to the south west.

My new lodgings are a step up from my previous ones. I may feel that way because I really like Killarney and Kerry and after getting sick on my first trip to Waterford I am less than pleasantly inclined towards the city.

I ended the day on a great note with an excellent meal of potato pancakes at a restaurant called the Laurels!
