Spain/Portugal 2020 Day 6

We departed Spain today and ended the first part of our trip. To make up for our first day we stopped in the town of Evora, Portugal on our way to our final destination Sintra, Portugal.

We stopped in Evora for two reasons. First was a bone chapel attached to one of the local churches. The second was for the chance to taste some olive oil.

We ended up tasting the oil shortly after lunch. I learned that if you are going to taste oil just on its own that you need to warm it up. The lovely lady at the olive oil store showed us how to warm up the oil by swirling it in a cup held in our hand. I also found that olive oil tends to be just a bit spicy in the lower throat when had on its own.

The bone chapel was pretty much what I expected and if you are at all squeamish I would stop reading now and catch tomorrow’s posting.

After the chapel we toured the rest of the church and the town.

The final destination today was the town of Sintra. Tomorrow will be our first full day in Portugal but tonight we get to stay in a palace!
