Today’s goal was the town of Ronda. Probably best known for a bridge that connects two parts of the city together over a fairly deep chasm.
Before we made Ronda we stopped at an old Moorish fort along the way. Partly because it was there and partly because it was a great way to get out of the path of the tour bus barreling its way down the road behind us.
The fort marked the western border of one of the Moorish kingdoms and looked like it had been restored to some degree. The stairs on the inside definitely need some attention though. Steep and crumbling it made the assent up and down the tower a bit challenging. Still an impressive place to see.

After the short diversion we finally made our way to Ronda. The town was larger than I had thought it would be and was filled with restaurants and tourist shops giving an indication of just how busy it gets during tourist season.
Walking through the town it was easy to tell who was from a colder climate. We were walking around in short sleeves and the locals were bundled up with heavy jackets and scarves.

The main reason people come to Ronda is to see the bridge. It’s impressive and I’m really glad I didn’t have to build it.

For lunch we stopped near the old Roman entrance to the city.

I did promise I would try to include pictures of the food this time around and lunch today is a good start!

After the late lunch, another walk through the town and a twenty minute drive to get a good angle on the bridge we started our way back to Seville via several small towns and the Parque natural de la Sierra de Grazalema. I will admit to missing some of the drive due to car coma.
